Questions
Questions families ask us
Short answers to what comes up most. Your own situation may change the answer, so ask us about it.
Which of you should I call?
Call the office. We’ll put you with Corinne for a will or trust, Leopold after a death, and Tou about care costs or a parent who needs help deciding.
How often should a plan be updated?
Look at it after a marriage, a divorce, a death, a move or a new grandchild, and about every five years otherwise. Updates for existing clients are a small flat fee.
Where should I keep the binder?
Somewhere safe that your agent can reach: a fire-safe box at home works. We keep scanned copies and tell you if we ever need the originals.
Can a will be handwritten?
Rules differ by state, and a handwritten will often fails for a missing witness or signature. We’d rather draft one that works.
My parent lives here and I live away. Can you help?
Yes. Many of the families we work with have children in other states. We meet by video and handle what needs to happen locally.
Can you talk to me about my parent’s plan?
Only with your parent’s permission, which we ask for in writing. Until then we can talk about how the process works.
How do your fees work?
Plans and Medicaid applications have flat fees, quoted in writing. Probate and guardianship are quoted at the start, flat or hourly, and estates usually pay for probate.
Do you charge for a phone call?
No. A short call to find out who should help, and whether you need us at all, costs nothing.

A short call is free, and we’ll tell you who should take it from there.
